Letters to the Editor: Jun. 2010

The Vienna Review welcomes letters from its readers.

To the Editor,

My compliments to the photographer, David Reali, for several outstanding images appearing in the current issue of Vienna Review. These photographs show a sensitivity for composition and for the ‘decisive’ and elusive moment so sought after by professionals. Readers of Vienna Review and other publications would benefit aesthetically and intellectually by encouraging this fine young photographer to pursue his unique and personal vision as an artist and technician.

To the Editor,

Our thanks to Kamil Klucynski for his very moving account of the memorial services in Vienna and Cracow for the Polish president and all the others who died in that terrible crash. It was a real comfort to read this; we were at the Vienna service that he described so well, but were not able to get back to Poland, much as we would have wished.

There has been so much talk about whose fault this was, and I suppose it is possible that Mr. Kaczynski gave orders that put the passengers in danger, and that the crew “did not listen,” as was reported in so many places.

But once it is over, it doesn’t seem to be of much use to criticize. This is a great tragedy for Poland and we need to support each other and not add more pain.

By the way, we found your paper in Café Korb on our recent trip back to Vienna, and hadn’t realized there was such a paper in Vienna. Congratulations on a fine job!

Best regards,
Pawel Symanski
