Letters to the Editor: Nov. 2013

To the Editor

I want to thank you for the gesture of sending a letter of gratitude for the interview for (“Spaniards in Vienna: Jobs, Hope and the Challenge of Language”, TVR Oct. 2013). I appreciate it so much, especially nowadays, where good manners and courtesy have been relegated to a secondary place.

To the Editor

It is a shame a First-Time Voter (“From the Editor: First-Time Voter”, TVR October 2013) cannot “completely understand the reasons” why Austria is on the “short list of contented countries” in the world.  Does education play a part, even a supporting role, in Austria emerging from an occupied country in 1955 to its present status?

To the Editor

I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt thanks to The Vienna Review: Your monthly TVR Salon (I have attended three times) and then reading the new issue of the paper have been a multiple pleasure:

The atmosphere at the Expat Center is extremely pleasant and lively, and it’s really helpful for me to read and hear how and what the Expats and (international) Viennese discover in our city – even in the tiniest corners – and then write about.  It’s great!

I also find the approach of the writers refreshing. And I thought Editor in Chief Dardis McNamee’s description of her experience as a new Austrian on Election Day (“From the Editor: First-Time Voter”, TVR October 2013) was wonderful, very engaging and entertainingly written. It’s also great as TVR really keeps me motivated to practice my English!
