Success at the Kunstkammer

One month after its grand opening, the first statistics look more than promising for the managing director Paul Frey. Of the over 50,000 visitors the Kunsthistorisches Museum (KHM) in March, a large number of the Viennese among them came especially for the collection of opulent objects. This was not the only triumph: Never before in its history has the Kunsthistorisches Museum (KHM) sold as many annual tickets.

Frey now hopes to promote the special collection as a “must-see” for tourists when visiting Vienna, thereby maintaining a high and frequent number of visitors.

The exhibit displays the famous Saliera of Cellini, along with 2,200 other unique objects designed and produced by the most skilled craftsmen for the splendour-addicted European royalty in the elaborately restored halls of the KHM.
