The Mörbisch lake festival, founded in 1957 by a member of the Staatsoper, is a yearly operetta festival on the shores of Neusiedlersee, a picturesque getaway an hour south of Vienna. This year the festival presents the antics and scheming of Johann Strauss’s Die Fledermaus – a time-honoured classic, and perhaps his most famous operetta. This is the last production for Harald Serafin, the director of the Mörbisch lake festival since 1992.
