MEETING THE HOBBITS

Celebrating 75 years since the publication of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit. Readings and discussion begin at 16:00 led by members of the Austrian Tolkien Society. With wine, tea/coffee, homemade sandwiches, cakes and music.

VIENNA LIT BOOK GROUP

Wrapping up this year, the book group focusses on the Fantasy/New Weird novel The City and the City by China Mieville about Inspector Tyador Borlú investigating a murder in the European city-state of Besźel and its twin city of Ul Qoma. The protagonist struggles against a society burdened by the attitudes of its Soviet past. Discussions continue at the pub. Free entry. In English.
