Letters to the Editor: October 2007

To the Editor,
(In repsonse to “Our Cultural Emegres,” VR Jul./Aug. ‘07)

Thank you very much for sending me your article. However, I would like to disagree with you somewhat on one thing; you wrote that the accompanying piano was to loud due to the fact that the sheet music was too difficult. It was indeed too loud, but only because the pianist was pounding the keys too loudly. I am a trained pianist myself, and I have played this accompaniment more than twenty times. I can honestly say that the accompaniment is suitable for the piano.

The audience of course only judges the music of the performance it saw, and it stands to reason that the blame for not so pleasant sounds is put on the composer.
