The artwork from Egon Schiele was found in an attic in Lower Austria

Never before seen paintings by Egon Schiele were discovered in Lower Austria. A 38-year-old man could not believe his eyes when, sorting through the attic, he found images and texts from the world-renowned painter Egon Schiele. The pieces, dated 1913 and 1914, were among the estate of his recently deceased father, an art dealer.

The findings include marine motifs, including ships, from Schiele’s time in Venice in 1914. All pieces found were previously unknown to the art world and paper tests confirm the paintings to be a century old. Experts are now reflecting on the historic meaning of these findings.
