Letters to the Editor: Dec. 2013

To the Editor

I was interested to read Kurt Bayer’s article on banking transparency in the October edition (“Kurt Bayer: Fighting for Economic Fairness”, Kaffeehaus, TVR, October 2013).

However please note that the Channel Islands are not part of the United Kingdom, the EU or the European Economic Area, and as such are not bound by EU tax legislation, unlike the UK.

We joined yesterday’s (10 October) Vienna Review Salon at the Expat Center – I was there with a group of English learners. And we really loved the event – I think it’s one of the nicest informal English-speaking events in town!

One part of my joblife (www.talkshop.cc) is facilitating groups of people who want to improve their English or German, which is why I am always on the lookout for new and inspiring locations, events, and people. The other part is facilitating communities of practice – groups of people who want to improve conditions in the workplace (this is a project initiated by the Vienna Chamber of Labor – www.gedifo.at)

Glad to have found you on FB!

To the Editor,

Re: Keys to the City, Sunday Shopping, TVR, November 2013

Another favorite of mine that is open on weekends (weekdays too!) is the Bäckerei Wannemacher in the 19th – that  not only has all sorts of breads and pastries, cakes but has both indoor and outdoor seating and offers wonderful breakfast selections as well as a set lunch menu from Monday thru Friday.

If you go there often for every time you spend you can collect stamped points on a card and when it is full, you get a free breakfast. They are very friendly, efficient and it is a nice place to go. I love going there!
